    Kuvempu University's Government college secures 10 ranks at PG level

    Davangere, 3rd Dec: The Government First Grade College and Postgraduate Centre, affiliated to Kuvempu University, has bagged 10 ranks at the postgraduate level this year.

The first five of the 10 ranks for MA in Kannada have been bagged by the students of the institution. In addition, three students of English have secured the first, third and fifth ranks and two MBA students have secured the fifth and sixth ranks. The achievers in Kannada are: K.A. Oblappa, H. Huligappa, P. Aradimallaiah, S.P. Maruthi and R.Shankarnaik. In English, K.B. Aruna (first), H. Vijayakumar (third) and Sayed Maria (fifth) have secured ranks while Noorjan Taj (fifth) and Ashwini D. Thukkoji (sixth) have excelled in the MBA course.

Sharing their happiness with us on Thursday, the 10 achievers attributed the success to their professors and lecturers, hard work and concentration. Maruthi and Vijayakumar said that students should not confine themselves to the syllabus and textbooks. Extensive reading would help in acquiring deeper knowledge, they said.

Oblappa, Huligappa and Aradimallaiah said that students should not be compelled to read. Stressing the need for absolute concentration, they said that on an average students should spend about four hours reading. Shankaranaika and Aruna asked students to develop interest in reading good books.

One should enjoy reading books and be curious to learn new things and new subjects, they said. Ashwini Thokkaji and Noorjan Taj said that hard work and interaction with fellow students and faculty members every day had helped them do well.

D. Basavaraj, principal of the college, expressed happiness with the achievement of his students. He said that the 10 students had brought fame and glory to the college. He complimented the heads of the respective departments, professors and lecturers for preparing their students well for the examinations.
